We currently have flu vaccine in the office and are giving it during routine office visits. It is not too early in the season to receive it, and if given now it will provide protection for the entire flu season.
In past years, we have had flu clinics in October. Due to the business of the office and the strain and stress on our staff, we are postponing the flu clinics for now. Let us suggest the following options:
- If you child has a serious underlying health problem, please call our office and we will try and schedule those patients to receive a flu shot.
- If your child is being seen in the office for a well visit or a mild illness, please have you child get the flu shot at that time and do not delay it. It is not too early to get the flu vaccine.
- Take advantage of school and community flu clinics. This will ease the burden on our office.
We have been very busy, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. We still hope to have some flu clinics, but we are not sure when that may happen.
On an unrelated note, when the Covid vaccine becomes approved for ages 5-11 years, we would encourage you to get your child vaccinated. We are recommending it at this time for all children ages 12 years and older. We believe in its safety and effectiveness.
On another unrelated noted, we were voted the number one pediatric office in RI by the Reader’s Choice Award through the Providence Journal. We thank you for your vote. It is a privilege to provide care for your children!
